Thailand’s leading motorcycle distributor and a pioneer of EV motorbikes, STALLIONS EV, have announced a partnership with local battery service provider, Swap & Go, a unit of PTT Group that wholly provides battery swapping, increasing efficiency and beefing up the electric vehicle ecosystem within Thailand, making it easier for EV motorcycle owners to be on the go quickly.
Swap & Go was born out of Express Solutions, or “PTT ExpresSo,” the corporate innovation unit.
So, what are the capabilities of e-motorbikes with swappable batteries?
Stallions Motor’s exclusive sales of Dragon, an EV bike with motor specs of 3000 Watts and a large, sturdy frame body structure can load up to 150 kilograms in weight whilst providing comfort for both the rider and passenger. The Dragon is special, because it’s the first E-motorcycle model in Thailand that can be legally registered with the Department of Transportation as a public transportation method with a yellow license plate. Before widespread distribution, Dragon underwent 2 years of practical testing by motorcycle taxis and delivery drivers, providing a real-world validation of the product.
The Dragon model uses swappable batteries, which have many benefits, from reduced charging time, increased driving range, and cost-effectiveness for fleets and riders. The technology also helps to reduce operational CO2 emissions significantly.
The partnership will enhance the ecosystem.
In an interview with Thirachet Lapjaturapit, the CEO of STL Group Holdings, the manufacturer and developer of STALLIONS EV, he touched upon the ecosystem impact the partnership will have.
“The goal of this partnership between STALLIONS and Swap & Go is to improve the Battery Ecosystem & Infrastructure while increasing the number of E-motorcycles usage, introducing world-class innovation onto Thailand’s streets.”
The newly formed partnership is a seamless way to introduce the EV experience in a widespread, accessible way to riders. It also allows for the potential for the development of various financial solutions which will hopefully improve the quality of lives within the ecosystem.
“The partnership is a big step in supporting STL Group’s policies of Clean Transportation and Sustainable business,” says Khun Thirachet. “It’s an important mission for us.”
