TALAB teamed up with the Thailand Youth Climate Council (TYCC), Thailand Pavilion, GAUC, E+C/Climate Live, Climate Live, and the Malaysian Pavilion to bring Common Threads Sustainable Fashion Show to COP30.
The showcase spotlighted Thai crafts and textiles from across the country — from Klibbua (Chiang Mai) and Bhukram (Sakon Nakhon) to Tha Hommade (Chiang Mai) — celebrating the artistry and cultural heritage behind each piece.
Beyond just beautifully crafted silhouettes, these garments are hand-woven, uniquely patterned, and made with eco-friendly materials that champion sustainability while creating income opportunities for local communities. The showcase took place on 17 November and received warm praise from a global audience.
Beyond Thailand, participating countries include Malaysia, China, Australia, France, and more. The sustainable-focused show invited attendees to experience the intricate beauty of threads, each handpicked, spun, woven, and sewn, that highlight cultural diversity and honor heritage. Another highlight was the insightful keynote speech from Clara Tomé, the model turned activist.
Culture is crucial to climate action. Without cultural heritage, many of the nature-based solutions critical to climate adaptation would not exist. At this COP, the clock is ticking. It is timely to build bridges, foster cultural and climate diplomacy, and showcase the true power of community.
