In his first Coronavirus related press briefing in weeks, President Trump is calling for all Americans to wear mask. This is a sharp reversal in rhetoric, as the President has publicly been seen not covered up and underplaying its importance.
“Whether you like the mask or not, they have an impact. They will have an effect and we need everything we can get.” said the President. This a clear sign that the pandemic is getting worse in the US.
“It will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better. Something I don’t like saying about things, but that’s the way it is.”
The US on Tuesday recorded more than 1,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day for the first time in July. Both Florida and Texas reported higher daily deaths on Monday, each state counting over 100 Coronavirus related deaths with Texas seeing over 6% surges in hospitalisations compared to the previous week.
However, the President insists that the US will not be placed under a national lockdown, due to debilitating economic economic fallback & other consequences.
